Xeriscaping
in Utah.

Xeriscaping is landscaping designed around Utah’s dry climate: decorative rock, gravel, boulders and drought-tolerant plants in place of thirsty lawn. TerraSummit Earthworks builds xeriscapes for homes and business properties across Utah County and Salt Lake County.

Xeriscaping in Utah County & Salt Lake County
A good xeriscape isn’t a yard full of gravel. We grade the ground, set boulders and rock beds, lay out planting areas and paths, and trench for irrigation lines to the plants that need water, so the yard looks finished and intentional while using far less water than lawn.

Made for Utah’s dry climate

Lawns along the Wasatch Front need a lot of summer watering. Replacing some or all of yours with a xeriscape cuts water use and the time spent mowing. Some Utah cities and water districts offer rebates for replacing lawn with water-wise landscaping, so it’s worth checking with yours before you start.

How it comes together

From the groundwork  to the finished yard.

01

Ground prep

We grade and level the property first, so water drains the right way and everything built on top stays put.

02

Build

Retaining walls go up block by block, then patios, walkways and hardscaping are laid on a solid base.

03

Finish

Sod rolls out, plants go in and water features come on.

04

Maintain

Then we keep it looking that way, with lawn care, aeration and seasonal cleanup.

Landscaping designed to need little water: decorative rock, gravel, boulders and drought-tolerant plants instead of large areas of lawn.

Yes. We can remove the lawn, prepare the ground and install the xeriscape, for the whole yard or just the parts you choose, such as a park strip or front yard.

Planted areas usually still need some water, especially while plants establish. We trench for irrigation lines to the planted areas as part of the job.
